What we do

Heritage Futures aims to meet the needs of Scotland’s cultural heritage
sector as it faces up to new challenges in terms of visitor demands, new
technologies, accessibility issues and economic development and growth. It aims
to bridge the gap between academic considerations of heritage in all its forms
and grass-roots understanding of the practicalities of nurturing heritage in
modern society.
Heritage Futures offer an array of services and resources to meet these needs
including research and consultancy practice, post-graduate study opportunities
suited to the varied demands of a creative sector (available in full & part time
modes), CPD opportunities and a programme of seminars presented by a blend of
academics, sector professionals and grass-roots enthusiasts.
Knowledge transfer & outreach
Staff at
Heritage Futures can be commissioned to undertake research and consultancy work
where specific expertise in aspects of heritage management, historical research
or interpretation and tourism development is required. Staff are also pleased to
get involved in appropriate external activities and meetings to facilitate the
sharing of knowledge and ideas between sector professionals, academic
institutions, community based groups and researchers.
