Heritage Futures

Our cultural heritage is all around us! It provides the setting for our community identity and social activity. It draws together issues like the built environment, community histories and interpretation. When developed and supported effectively, heritage helps us to understand our history in accessible ways.

Cultural heritage is a vital part of Scotland's economy and lifeblood - not only does heritage underpin Scotland's tourism offering, but it also expresses the identity of the country and its peoples.  This has been underlined most recently in the public arena with the publishing of the Cultural Commission report, and the announcement of a National Heritage Audit by Historic Scotland.

Caledonian Heritage Futures Network has developed as a truly cross-disciplinary group from a collaboration between the School of Law & Social Sciences and Caledonian Business School.  Distinctive areas of expertise at Glasgow Caledonian University including history, tourism, archaeology, public policy, strategic management and interpretation are now working together in a partnership unique to Scotland. Heritage Futures is here to help address the needs of Scotland's vibrant cultural heritage sector. Through collaborative partnerships, Heritage Futures aims to sustain and promote history and cultural heritage across the country.
